Name: Larry Butz

Age: 26

Hair: Sandy brown, almost blonde in some lights

Eyes: Brown

Height: 177 cm, or almost 5’10”

Occupation: Haha! Larry’s held many jobs, including hot dog vendor, security guard, artist, and actor. Currently, he’s still an actor.

Characterization:

  • Though AA canon states that Larry only graduated from junior high (ninth grade), I’ve always seen him as having gone to college with Phoenix (probably with an associate’s degree in art or something ridiculous).
  • Let’s just say that while in college, he and his roommate got into a LOT of trouble together, especially when they went to parties…or had any alcohol in their systems whatsoever…Like the time with the lawn gnome and the puffin, or the time with the stripper and the marshmallows, or the time when Nick painted himself blue and threw himself at a wall…
  • After Doug Swallow’s murder trial, Larry would comfort Phoenix in the dead of night when the pink-sweatered young man would have terrifying nightmares of Dahlia trying to kill him.
  • When he was a kid, his father left, and his mother had to work two jobs to support little Larry; from that day on, he swore to never leave any of his girlfriends—he can’t help that they all leave him.
  • He talks without thinking and acts incredibly recklessly, which gets him into trouble.
  • He calls himself “useless” because “When something smells, it’s usually the Butz.” Larry always seems to get in the way and make everything difficult.
  • Though he does have the tendency to mess things up, plus the fact that he has awful luck, he stands by his friends and does whatever he can to help.
  • Larry’s had multiple girlfriends, who are usually models, who end up leaving him for stupid reasons; poor Larry’s starting to give up hope.
  • He’s naturally a really good flirt, though he’s really dense and doesn’t seem to get it when girls aren’t interested. He also doesn’t get when girls flirt with him back.
  • He has a hard time articulating his romantic feelings, so when he does manage to, it may seem overly strong. Such as threatmantic letters, trying to hop down a chimney to make a romantic entrance, etc.
  • LARRY IS TERRIFIED OF GHOSTS. Seriously. They’re what he’s most afraid of. Depending on the situation, he’ll range from flailing to hiding under things or people to even passing out.
  • Larry Ex Machina. That is all. He does his best to come to the rescue whenever he can, though he usually gets hurt, too.
  • Even though he’s a total spaz, he has an impressive creative side: he made two hand-sculpted Thinker clocks, became an artist, and does incredibly passionate, moving performances as the Steel Samurai!
  • Though he’s an actor, he can’t understand Shakespeare, but uses lines from the plays to charm girls. Big words in general tend to confuse him.
  • He can play the double bass and he can sing well; being an actor, he’s been in quite a few musicals.
  • He can get really sad, which is especially surprising due to his incredibly happy-go-lucky demeanor. He takes a lot of his mistakes to heart more often than he used to…
  • When he gets upset, he shoves himself underneath his couch or table and hides for extended periods of time.
  • Larry can hold his liquor very well, but when he’s drunk, RUN AWAY. Phoenix will tell you story after story about ridiculous drunk exploits concerning Larry, including a number of times where Phoenix had to flee parties with Larry passed out on his back.
  • He can cook really well, and soup is his specialty. Watch out, though—he’s prone to making kitchens explode. On a related note, he has a Hello Kitty toaster.
  • He LOVES Lady Gaga.
  • When he texts, he uses bad chatspeak that is almost undecipherable.
  • Larry is a real smooth talker. But that should be pretty obvious by now.
  • Larry was murdered by Dahlia Hawthorne in June of 2011, but was brought back to life thanks to Sissel’s ghost tricks. However, the ordeal caused him to lose his memory, and for an agonizing week, he had no memory of who he is…or who anyone else was, either. Thanks to Phoenix, he’s since recovered it.
  • Larry’s got a little bit of a fainting problem. When he’s nervous, really scared, terribly confused, or very turned on, he has a tendency to ruin the moment by blacking out. Funny, he never had this problem before…
